Walton Hosts Listening Session for National Academy of Medicine's Latest Report
A new report that will examine the role of nurses in improving population health is being prepared by The National Academy of Medicine.
The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is an initiative supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the AARP Foundation and AARP. The Campaign has 17 COACHes (Campaign Outreach Advocates for a Culture of Health) across the country including AnnMarie Walton, assistant professor, and they are holding “listening sessions” with nurses and community partners with a vested interest in health and health care, to explore how nursing should evolve to help meet the unmet health and social care needs of our population.
Heather Mountz, program coordinator, D-CHIPP Community Health; organized the session at DUSON for faculty, staff, students and community partners. Community partners from Families Moving Forward and Dementia Inclusive Durham participated in the event. The input collected will help inform the NAM study committee’s efforts.
