AnnMarie Walton, assistant professor, recently presented “Let’s Get Nurses Ready for Board Service!” to the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA) Leadership Academy. Her presentation's objectives were:

• Describe the Future of Nursing’s effort to place nurses on hospital and other health care boards at both the state and national level.
• List a major reason nurses should be board members.
• Describe the steps in gaining an invitation to join a board.
• Describe history and recent activities of the NCNA Nurses on Boards Council.
