Welcome Letter

Welcome! As we quickly approach the end of calendar 2017 we want to take a moment to look back over all of the great accomplishments of this past year. For the Duke University School of Nursing’s Development and Alumni Affairs team, 2017 was a busy and momentous year. The School and our Doctor of Nursing Practice Program were both ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report in their 2018 rankings. We surpassed our Duke Forward campaign goal; successfully launched our new leadership annual giving society, the Bessie Baker Society; hosted a successful 2017 Reunion; and created this publication, DUSON Connections, to better communicate with our alumni and friends. With all of the success that we enjoyed, none of this would have been possible without our wonderful alumni and friends. Thank you for your integral part in all of these achievements.

As we look towards 2018, we are excited about what is on the horizon!  The 2018 Reunion is just around the corner.  If you graduated in a class year ending in 3 or 8, we encourage you to come back to reunite, reminisce and reconnect with your classmates and to see all that has changed on Duke’s campus and in the city of Durham! Please ensure all of your information is updated on the new Duke Alumni Network so that you receive the latest news about the reunion and other School of Nursing events around the country in 2018. We look forward to meeting you and celebrating our successes!

Happy Holidays and best wishes for a prosperous 2018,

Niki Barnett

Director of Annual Giving and the Bessie Baker Society

P.S. If you were planning to make a donation this year to the School of Nursing Annual Fund, please do so by December 31, 2017, to ensure tax credit is received for 2017.
