Established in 1998, the March of Dimes Nursing Scholarships recognize and promote excellence in nursing while advancing our commitment to provide moms and babies with the highest quality care and promote health equity.
Scholarships are awarded to top-scoring applicants who demonstrate a dedication to improving maternal and infant health. Each recipient receives a $10,000 scholarship supported by Pampers®, a valued March of Dimes partner.
Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship
These scholarships are open to undergraduate nursing students with a passion for health equity and addressing the maternal health crisis. Qualified applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate nursing program and have a commitment to working in maternal or infant health after graduation. For 2025, two awardees will be selected.
Graduate Nursing and Certified Nurse Midwife Scholarships
These scholarships are available to registered nurses enrolled in an accredited master's or doctoral nursing program. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to improving maternal and infant health outcomes and advancing health equity for all families.
For 2025:
- Two scholarships will be awarded to nurses pursuing graduate degrees in maternal or infant health nursing.
- Two scholarships will be awarded to nurses pursuing Certified Nurse Midwife degrees, supporting greater access to midwives and the integration of midwifery care into the US healthcare system.
The highest-scoring recipient in the Graduate Nursing and Certified Nurse Midwife categories will receive the Dr. Margaret Comerford Freda Award. The Margaret Comerford Freda Graduate Nursing Scholarship Award was established in 2016 by March of Dimes to honor Dr. Margaret Comerford Freda, a long-time National Nurse Advisory Council Chair, volunteer, and friend.
