I have always loved science, math, and chemistry, so I knew that pursuing a career in health care would be my path from a young age. In my senior year of high school, my father passed away. Prior to his death, I promised I would enter the health care field. Upon graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a career in nursing. I love how nursing has a holistic and patient-centered approach to health care.   When I learned about the nurse anesthesia career path from a church member, I instantly knew that would be my new goal. After five years in nurse anesthesia, I decided to pursue my DNP degree to have more opportunities available to me.

I wanted to choose a school with a good reputation and is known for being the best in the country. I am grateful to have selected Duke to attend. Duke University brings out the best in me and challenges me to be the best leader and scholar I can become. The DNP Program is preparing me for the future of nursing and other aspects of nursing that are constantly evolving. While at the school, I have been encouraged to get involved in legislation and education. I now consider myself a leader not only in health care but also in my community. Overall, Duke has pushed me to find additional ways I can make an impression on the nursing field, and I am looking forward to new endeavors in leadership.
