Dr. Courtney Calhoun , DNP, MSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, CHSE, CNE, is a Clinical Nurse Educator in the CND. She works collaboratively with faculty throughout the processes of simulation development and delivery to meet standards of best practice.
Dr. Calhoun earned her Associate Degree in Nursing of Science in Nursing from Nash Community College (ADN, 2013), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (BSN, 2017), a Master of Science in Nursing from University of North Carolina Wilmington (MSN, 2018), and Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a concentration in leadership from Gardner Webb University (DNP, 2021). Dr. Calhoun's doctoral project included developing a virtual medication reconciliation simulation with senior nursing students.
Dr. Calhoun is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, a Certified Nurse Educator, and certified as a medical-surgical nurse through ANCC. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the North Carolina Nurses Association, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
