Biederman Participates in Meeting on Community's COVID Response

donna biedermanDonna Biederman, associate professor and D-CHIPP director, recently presented information regarding the local response to support homeless individuals during the COVID pandemic. Biederman joined other experts from Duke and the Durham community to update committee members at the quarterly Partnership for Healthy Durham meeting. The panelists discussed the community response and assistance provided to homeless, senior, Hispanic, and African American populations. The latter two, Hispanics and African Americans, have experienced higher virus infection rates in Durham than their white counterparts. Other panelists included Durham Public Health Director Rodney Jenkins, Viviana Martinez-Bianchi, of Duke Health, representing LATIN-19, Roosevelt Campbell representing the African American/Black COVID Response Committee, and Gina Upchurch representing the Durham Partnership for Seniors and More. DUSON faculty working on these COVID response committees include Irene Felsman, assistant professor, and Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, associate professor, (LATIN-19) and Ellie McConnell, associate professor, (Durham Partnership for Seniors and More).
