Devane-Johnson Submits Application to The Rita & Alex Hillman Foundation

Kudos to Stephanie Devane-Johnson and her entire team for the submission of her application to The Rita & Alex Hillman Foundation entitled "Empowering Women from Underrepresented Communities as Perinatal Doulas: A Strategy to Improve Perinatal Outcomes among African American Women." This proposal requests funding for a one-year period with a start date of January 1, 2019.

The AIMS of this project are to: Aims 1. To pilot a perinatal doula training program for Black women in Durham, North Carolina and nearby counties with high maternal mortality rates. 2) Improve access to doula certification for African American Women in Durham County. The grant would fund the sessions for each cohort, the fees required for Doulas of North America (DONA) training and certification, the required text, scholarships for the first three patients for each doula, and a toolkit with community resources for each doula.
