DNP Alumna & Instructor Becomes Chief Nursing Information Officer for DUHS
DNP alumna and Adjunct Instructor Kay Lytle was recently appointed to the role of Chief Nursing Information Officer for Duke University Health System (DUHS) effective May 1.
Lytle will be responsible for strategic and operational nursing and allied health leadership in the development, deployment, optimization, integration and maintenance of clinical information systems to support clinicians and patient care across care settings within DUHS. She will lead the design and execution of technology-enabled process changes to assure safe and efficient care delivery. Her role also provides leadership in the identification, evaluation and assessment, and integration of new care delivery technology. She will continue her oversight of the hospital clinical systems in DHTS, including the Maestro Care inpatient teams.
Lytle has held multiple informatics leadership roles at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she provided oversight to many different clinical information systems. In addition to her many published proceedings and presentations, she has served on the faculties of UNC-Chapel Hill, Chamberlain College of Nursing and Duke University.
She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from DUSON, a Master of Science degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Baccalaureate in Nursing from East Carolina University. She is also certified as an Informatics Nurse, Nurse Executive Advanced, and Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems.
