Exercise and The Brain Symposium
A symposium on exercise and the brain will take place on Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Trent Semans Center where Laura Baker, Monika Fleshner, Art Kramer and Henriette van Praag will be the keynote speakers.. The symposium is sponsored by Duke University School of Medicine and the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences.
Physical exercise has emerged as a powerful strategy for promoting and maintaining brain health and resilience. Recent advances are identifying molecular mechanisms that mediate these salutary effects, providing clinical evidence for the efficacy of this approach in humans and devising novel strategies that include exercise for treating neurological conditions. The interdisciplinary symposium will highlight advances in this field and aims to foster discussion and collaboration to better understand the impact of exercise on brain health.
