Studies have long shown how companies benefit from having a diverse workforce.
In one such report published in February 2015, the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company examined the relationship between the gender and ethnic/racial diversity of corporate leadership teams and their organizations’ financial performance. The study found that companies in the top quartile of ethnic/racial diversity were 35% more likely to perform ahead of their national industry median, and gender-diverse organizations were 15% more likely to outperform financially.
“Diversity matters because we increasingly live in a global world that has become deeply interconnected,” the report stated. “It should come as no surprise that more diverse companies and institutions are achieving better performance.”
