Julia Gamble, clinical associate, was among those featured in Maria Bennett Hock's "45 portraits in 45 days" painting series in honor of  "the brave (people) who put their safety aside to see to the needs of others." The series was presented in collaboration with Duke Hospital.

During January 2021, these portraits comprised an exhibit in the popular concourse area of the hospital, available for view by patients, staff and visitors with screened access. On March 10, during a “Meet the Artist” ceremony, each participant received their portrait.

The exhibit was also featured in the People magazine article "Artist Paints 45 Portraits of N.C. Hospital Heroes in 45 Days to Honor Their Work amid Pandemic" by Joelle Goldstein. "As far as I'm concerned, this is the most important body of work I've ever done," Hock said to Goldstein.
