The Health Equity Academy II (HEA II) Scholars have had a busy couple weeks volunteering with members of the Beta Epsilon Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. On July 10, Beta Epsilon sponsored a Keep Durham Beautiful site cleanup. The HEA scholars, Beta Epsilon nurses and outgoing chapter president Kathy Trotter, associate professor, picked up trash and debris throughout the site, which was established in the 1940s by African American men and families after the war. Meanwhile, the scholars and Beta Epsilon members joined Brigit Carter, associate dean for diversity, equity and inclusion, and Midge Bowers, associate professor, at Feed my Sheep.

The HEA Scholars also got to meet Priscilla Ramseur, DNP’16, MSN’95, chief nursing officer, Duke Raleigh Hospital. Check out our social media pages for more photos!
