Interdiscplinary Nursing School Expansion Groundbreaking Celebration
A groundbreaking celebration was recently hosted at DUSON for Duke Health's newest building where there was a short ceremony to celebrate the collaboration between the School of Nursing and the School of Medicine for our new building. The new building will be the future home of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Division and offices of the School of Nursing, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Interprofessional Education and Care.
Opening remarks at the celebration were given by Chancellor for Health Affairs Eugene Washington followed by remarks from Dean Marion E. Broome, School of Nursing and Dean Mary Klotman, School of Medicine.

The five-story building will replace the one story, 14,000-square foot Elizabeth C. Clipp Research Building. The School of Nursing will occupy 50 percent of the new building and will be home to the School’s Ph.D. Program, Center for Nursing Research, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Student Services, Duke Health Center for Inter-Professional Education, simulation suite and more. In addition to serving as the new home for Duke’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, it will also house administration and Graduate Medical Education offices for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
