Solorzano Receives Equity Diversity Inclusion Award

Rosa Solorzano received the Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award at the annual Samuel DuBois Cook Society Award Dinner on February 21. The OIE award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated behavior or led initiatives that foster equity, diversity and inclusion. Recipients are chosen from both staff and faculty who have demonstrated such a commitment by their leadership, and have helped to create a more diverse and inclusive environment at Duke University and Duke Health.

Solorzano was nominated by Anne Derouin and Julie Cusatis. "Rosa is truly the epitome of this award: creative, innovative and a woman who has cultivated diversity awareness through her ability, asn an underrepresented minority to flourish despite considerable challenges throughout her life," said one nomination. "It's an honor to use this opportunity to nominate her for the EDI award, acknowledging her service and highlighting her contributions to our campus and community."
