Transforming Obesity Research at Duke

Understanding, and solving the complexities of obesity requires a multidisciplinary approach. Join fellow researchers fostering Duke collaborations to have the highest impact on future obesity-related research and patient care.
During the symposium, attendees will:
- Delineate knowledge gaps for obesity-related research and where researchers at Duke are uniquely positioned to make essential contributions across the spectrum of research domains including basic, translational, clinical, population, and community health research.
- Brainstorm strategies for stimulating and optimizing future multidisciplinary collaborations to differentiate Duke as a Center of Excellence for obesity-related research.
- Develop a framework and use-case for fostering and embedding obesity-related research into routine practice across the Duke Health System and within the Durham community as an ideal learning health system model.
Keynote speakers include Lesley H. Curtis, PhD; chair and professor, Department of Population Health Sciences and interim executive director, Duke Clinical Research Institute; and Joseph G. Rogers, MD; chief medical officer, Duke University Health System; professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology and member, Duke Clinical Research Institute.
