"An Unlikely Friendship" Documentary Screening

On Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 12 until 1:30 p.m., D-CHIPP will host a screening of “An Unlikely Friendship,” an award-winning documentary about the altogether surprising bond that developed between CP Ellis, Exalted Grand Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan and outspoken black, woman activist Ann Atwater in Pearson 1014.

The film skillfully documents how these two came together in an intensive community event (in Durham!) that forced them to face their differences and find common ground. We’re very excited to have the documentary’s filmmaker, Dr. Diane Bloom, from UNC-Chapel Hill with us to introduce the film and lead a discussion afterward.

A Hollywood film entitled “The Best of Enemies” about the story documented by Dr. Bloom, is scheduled for release on April 5, with a world premiere at Duke in March. You don’t want to miss the true story of “An Unlikely Friendship!”
