Nikki Blodgett, director of the Center for Nursing Discovery (CND) and assistant professor, co-teaches Gerontological Nursing.

During their first day, the third-semester students in Gerontological Nursing learned about sensory losses in older adults by using sensory kits made in the CND. The sensory kits are a powerful and experiential tool that help students reflect, discuss and understand sensory changes that older adults experience. Students are also challenged to share nursing interventions that can help improve the functional status of older adults experiencing these sensory changes.
