Center for Nursing Research Announces Small Research Grant Program

Center for Nursing Research Announces Small Research Grant Program

This announcement describes the CNR grant opportunities for 2017. Faculty who do not currently have CNR funding and are working on research grant submissions in the next year are eligible. Details on how to submit your application for the first calls will be sent out by May 1, 2017.

Networking In Research Development (NIRD): These grants are designed to support research networking and infrastructure development for DUSON faculty research. Examples include support for expert consultation, think tank meetings, or implementation of research workshops related to a research area of excellence. An example in the Population Health Research Area of Excellence might include funds to engage with community stakeholders for new partnerships or identifying community priorities for research. Grant awards will be up to $4,000.

  • RFA Opens: May 1, 2017
  • Application Due: September 1, 2017

Clinical Innovation and Precision Health: This RFA will focus on bringing together collaborative research teams to address novel, current and innovative research in clinical innovation. Applicable areas of research include those that incorporate innovation or precision health into chronic illness, symptom science, acute illness, etc. – open in terms of target population. We strongly encourage faculty to submit proposals that either create new partnerships or leverage existing teams of researchers from DUSON and at least one of the following disciplines: Medicine, Engineering, and/or Data Science. This RFA is designed to reflect many of the new award mechanisms released by the NIH including the National Institute of Nursing Research, among others. Grant awards will be up to $20,000.

  • RFA Opens: May 1, 2017
  • Application Due: September 1, 2017

Population Health: This RFA will support DUSON faculty pilot research that supports population health improvement efforts. A population can be defined as any group of individuals that share common characteristic (e.g., demographic, culture, risk factor, chronic health condition, symptoms). Grant applications that focus on addressing the “third curve” of population health improvement – behavioral, socioeconomic, and environmental determinants of health that are often overlooked in health care will be prioritized (Washington, Coye, & Boulware, 2016). Preference will also be given to projects that reflect the highest potential for success in providing preliminary data for external grant proposals from NIH, PICORI, CDC, RWJF, and other external sources of funding for population health research. Grant awards will be up to $20,000.

  • RFA Opens: September 1, 2017
  • Application Due: December 1, 2017

DUSON/DUHS PhD and DNP Collaborative Research Projects: Funding for this mechanism is to promote research collaboration between PhD and DNP prepared DUSON faculty and nurses involved in research in the DUHS. Applicants must be submitted as multiple principal investigators (PIs) representing both the DNP and PhD roles. The multiple PIs can both be from DUSON or one can be from DUSON and the DUHS. However, the application must include research team collaborators from both DUSON and the DUHS. The research grant should reflect an important clinical question that promotes scientific inquiry. Funding may be requested up to a limit of $10,000.
