DUSON Connections: Greetings from Your Director of Alumni Affairs
Greetings from your Director of Alumni Affairs. It has been a very busy time for the Development and Alumni Affairs team. Some of our recent events included both the Nursing Alumni Council and the Board of Advisors meetings; a co-sponsored DUSON/DAA Women's Forum event titled "Women's Health and Self-Care: You Can't Take Care of Others If You Don't Take Care of Yourself" in Washington, D.C.; a breakfast sponsored by our boards to honor faculty and staff and to celebrate the School's #1 ranking; and our first ever donor reception hosted by Dean Broome, honoring the school's most ardent supporters.
In April we celebrated DUSON's 2017 Reunion with our alumni which began with the Gathering at the Gardens Reception at Sarah P. Duke Gardens. The next day's festivities included a casual continental breakfast, conversation, and tours of the school. A continuing education course, informational nursing sessions, luncheon, and awards ceremony completed the day. The Distinguished Alumnus Award was given to Dr. Robert Dodge, MSN '96. Robin Goff, BSN '68 received the Humanitarian Award. Dr. Eun-Ok Im was given the Distinguished Contributions to Nursing Science Award and Dr. Brigit Carter received the Honorary Alumna Award.
The success of these events would not be possible without our alumni. Thank you to all who attended these events. And a special thank you to our class representatives who worked tirelessly to help get classmates to the 2017 Reunion. Planning for the 2018 Reunion has already begun and includes those who graduated in a class year that ended in 3 or 8. Please email me at janene.schneider@duke.edu if you are interested in being a class representative!
Don’t forget to stay connected to us through our website, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. You can also go to https://alumni.duke.edu/ to find events in your location. Sincerely, Janene Schneider Director of Alumni Affairs
