This March, the RESPECT NC team hosted the first in a series of capacity building workshops that aim to empower community organizations, lay leadership and academics to building strong inclusive relationships that promote community-engaged research. The first workshop, "Research Ethics 101: Creating and Cultivating Your Narrative," led by Maralis Mercado Emerson, clinical research coordinator, and Harvey Hinton, of CAARE: The Healing Center, Inc., focused on examining ways of preventing ethical issues in research and advocating for equitable research practices.
