Gonzalez-Guarda Meets with State Government Officials on Behalf of LATIN-19

group gathered around governor roy cooper Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, associate professor, represented LATIN-19 during a roundtable discussion on October 4 with NC Governor Roy Cooper. The discussion was held to hear from health care and community leaders about the impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the Hispanic/Latino communities and thank these leaders for their dedication.

The Governor also signed an Executive Order to extend the Governor’s Advisory Council on Hispanic/Latino Affairs. The Council was established in 2017 to help advise the Governor on issues important to Hispanic/Latino North Carolinians.

Also in attendance were N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, N.C. Department of Administration Secretary Pam Cashwell, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, Congresswoman Deborah Ross, N.C. Representative Ricky Hurtado as well as members from El Futuro, Association of Mexicans in NC, Duke University Hospital, UNC Hospital, Hispanic Federation, Andrea Harris Task Force and other organizations that serve the Hispanic/Latino community.
