Graduate School Awards Grant to PhD Program

Graduate School Awards Grant to PhD Program

The Graduate School has awarded two Professional Development Grants for the 2021 calendar year, including one to the School of Nursing.

The grants provide up to $2,000 to help graduate students and their departments create discipline-specific professional development programming and resources for exploring both academic and broad career options. Such programming complements the offerings from The Graduate School, which focus on topics that are applicable across disciplines.

The nursing award will fund a four-part series titled “Envisioning Your Trajectory Post-PhD.” This event is intended to provide DUSON PhD students with tools that will allow them to plan for and optimize their leadership and career opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to learn about traditional academic career (direct entry to academia and postdoctoral program) trajectories, as well as diverse career (governmental agency and industry) trajectories after doctoral studies. The series was developed to meet a need expressed by the Ph.D. student body and feedback from DUSON alumni.
