maryellen kellyMaryellen S. Kelly, assistant professor, co-authored "Who is managing the bowels? A survey of clinical practice patterns in spina bifida clinic" with Jennifer Stout and John Wiener, of Duke Department of Surgery. The manuscript will be published in the "Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine." The manuscript was a survey of Spina Bifida Clinics in the U.S. to characterize which specialists are providing neurogenic bowel care at spina bifida clinics in the United States. This knowledge will allow us to work together with the appropriate care providers to improve care for those with neurogenic bowel by centralizing best practice patterns and disseminating information to the correct individuals. The team found that urology specialists were most commonly the primary providers for neurogenic bowel.
