Message from the Dean: Ibemere Will Become Faculty Member

stephanie ibemere headshotI am pleased to announce Stephanie Ibemere, PhD, RN, will join DUSON’s faculty, on July 1, 2021, and will be a member of the Healthcare of Adult Populations Division.

Ibemere holds a BS in Natural Sciences, a BA in Spanish, and an MSN in Clinical Nurse Leadership, all from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and received her PhD in Nursing Research from the University of Cincinnati.

Ibemere is currently a postdoctoral associate at DUSON whose work is funded by the NHLBI through Paula Tanabe (vice dean, Research)’s UH3 COMPARE-VOE study. Her experiences include global health capacity building and clinical education related to chronic disease prevention and management, clinical vaccine research, and cardiovascular critical care.

Her program of research focuses on building healthcare provider capacity to deliver high quality and effective care for chronic disease symptom management through community engaged research. She is passionate about addressing healthcare disparities in partnership with communities to co-create feasible and sustainable healthcare interventions for and with providers and patients. She is working domestically to understand provider and patient satisfaction with chronic care delivered in-person and via telehealth. She aims to develop algorithms which can inform the delivery of complex chronic care and interventions which will better integrate complex care management. Her work in global health is focused on building provider capacity to deliver sickle cell disease care in West Africa. Her current project is focused on understanding provider knowledge and attitudes related to sickle cell disease management to develop specific educational and clinical interventions which will improve patient outcomes.

We look forward to welcoming Ibemere to the full-time faculty in July. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to her at stephanie.ibemere@duke.edu.
