Message from the Dean: Two Staff Members Promoted to Assistant Deans

marion broomeI am pleased to announce two staff title changes for Glenn Setcliff and Christin Daniels. With shifts in the organization over the past year and increased complexity of the work in each of these areas, I thought it was warranted to make these title changes.

Glenn Setliff, MBA

glenn setliffI am pleased to announce a title change for Glenn Setliff, MBA, to assistant dean for information technology. Glenn joined Duke in 1991 and then DUSON in 2010 as the director of information technology. As our school’s portfolio of research, teaching and innovative IT initiatives have grown so, too, has Glenn’s role and responsibilities.

Glenn oversees the technical support functions of the educational programs for one of the largest and most significant distance-based schools of nursing in the country. The rarity with which systems needed to support our students, research and other work go down and the quality of IT service and support received by members of the DUSON community are a direct result of Glenn’s leadership. DUSON is consistently seen as a leader in IT security, compliance and innovative approaches at Duke, including being the first to significantly deploy software and store data in the Amazon cloud.

Glenn is one of the senior school-based IT leaders at Duke and is often sought out for advice and ideas to help move Duke IT initiatives forward. As an assistant dean, Glenn will continue to regularly represent the school while coordinating with senior Duke University and Health System leaders to ensure we continue to help set the bar for IT service quality, security and innovation. Please join me in congratulating Glenn.

Christin Daniels, MA

christin danielsI am pleased to announce a title change for Christin Daniels, MA, to assistant dean for research development. Christin joined the Center for Nursing Research in 2019 and has served as the senior director of research development and operations. As the CNR has restructured from two associate deans for research and the loss of two staff members over the past four months, she has taken on an increasingly large role in the operations of the CNR including operational oversight and regulatory research compliance, in addition to serving in her role as the core lead for Research Faculty Development.

Christin brings 20-plus years of experience in strategic research development, team science, project/program management, intellectual property/start-up, data analytics, risk management, and scientific integrity. She has incredible knowledge of the higher education research enterprise and leadership strengths gained over a 20-plus year career. As an assistant dean and in collaboration with the DUSON vice dean for research, Christin will regularly represent the CNR and School while coordinating with senior Duke University and Health System leaders to ensure the advancement of our research mission and compliance with the seemingly never ending number of research regulations. Please join me in congratulating Christin.
