In 1993, the first National Nurses Week was declared. Since then, National Nurses Week has been celebrated each year from May 6-12. This year, the celebration has been expanded to National Nurses Month in recognition of the contributions and impact of nurses in the U.S. This dedicated recognition of nurses’ contributions is worthy of nursing’s impact in our health care and public health systems and serves to spotlight the essential role of nurses in the transformation of health care.
The Cecelia Lou Scholarship is a single $8,000 scholarship awarded to nurses pursuing advanced degrees to advance their career as a full-time nurse educator who are the first in their family to pursue higher education and belong to an historically marginalized/excluded group including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, Native American, Pacific Islander, immigrant populations, those from rural areas.

Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited advanced degree nursing program (e.g. masters, doctorate).
Applicant must have completed at least one academic year by the application deadline (May).
Applicant must be in good academic standing.
Applicant must complete the application as listed on the NLN website.
Scholarship funds may go towards books, tuition, and research/project related expenses.

Scholarship Proposal Outline
Introduction (Overview): Describe your need for support and clarity of purpose
Max. 250 words
Description of your Program of Study
i.e. dissertation, capstone, scholarly project, pilot project; quality project; change initiative).
Max. 500 words
Include specific outline, timeline and projected graduation date.
If you have completed a dissertation proposal defense or had a DNP project approved, please include defense date. If project has been IRB approved, please indicate.

The Edmund J.Y. Pajarillo scholarship opens a new avenue of scholarship with a focus on informatics and innovation in the use of data analysis and health information technology.
Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in accredited graduate level programs, having completed at least one year of study towards their degree by June 2025.
The NLN Foundation will give special consideration to nurses of color and members of other marginalized communities interested in transitioning from practice to full-time teaching.
The application process is open to the public, but preference will be given to NLN members.

Categories:
Category 1: Projects that conceptualize and translate nursing informatics concepts and theories into new applications and systems to facilitate nursing education, practice, and science.
Category 2: Projects that establish, expand, and influence future nurses’ roles to further optimize and expand their marketability and professional demand.
Category 3: Projects that create nursing educational technology to foster and enhance high impact practice (HIP) learning.
The NLN Foundation for Nursing Education and Home Instead are joining forces to foster and promote geriatric education through a $10,000 scholarship fund for nursing students. Six scholarships will be awarded to prepare a competent nursing workforce to deliver the best care to older adults. The scholarship awards can be used for tuition, fees, and/or books. Read the criteria below and apply today.
Criteria FOR $5,000 SCHOLARSHIPS (1 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD):
Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited graduate nursing program (Masters, Doctorate) focused on geriatrics or gerontology.
Applicant is a current or former employee of Home Instead, Inc. or the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network in good standing as determined by Home Instead.
Applicant must provide proof of current or recent work in geriatrics/gerontology (employment, clinical experience, classes taken, etc.).
Applicant must write a 500-word essay (described below) highlighting their goals to become an advanced practice geriatric nurse or gerontologist.
Applicants must provide two academic or professional references addressed to the NLN Foundation.
Applicant must demonstrate commitment to use their advanced degree in the geriatric population.
Criteria for $1,000 scholarships (5 scholarship awards):
Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program focusing in geriatrics and have completed at least one academic year.
Applicant must have 2 years’ experience in the geriatric field.
Applicant must provide proof of current or recent work in geriatrics/gerontology.
Applicant must write a 500-word essay (described below) highlighting their goals to become a geriatric nurse or gerontologist.
Applicants must provide one academic or professional reference addressed to the NLN Foundation.
Applicant must make a commitment to use their degree in the geriatric population.
Essay requirements
Please complete an essay discussing what led you to seek a nursing degree with focus on geriatrics and/or gerontology. This essay should also include a brief review of your geriatric career, your future professional goals in this field and how this scholarship would assist you in meeting those goals. The essay should be a maximum of 500 words.
