Duke University School of Nursing Associate Professor Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, Ph.D., MPH, RN, FAAN was recently a part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Consensus Study on Essential Services for Intimate Partner Violence during Public Health Emergencies.

Sophia Smith, Ph.D., MSW, is an associate professor with tenure at the Duke University School of Nursing. After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a teen and breast cancer as a young adult, she has been determined to help other cancer survivors who struggle to afford treatments. 

Schenita Randolph, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, is an associate professor at DUSON and the founding director and principal investigator of the HEEAT Lab, which addresses health disparities. 

Jonathan McGee is pursuing his Master of Science in Nursing to be an Adult and Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Akemi Huynh, of Raleigh, is studying to earn an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing and says the nursing field is a perfect match for her personality. 

School of Nursing Assistant Professor Hanzhang Xu, Ph.D., RN, was recently awarded two Bass Connection Projects by the Global Health Theme of Bass Connections for her proposed 2024-25 Bass Connections projects, “Empowering Family Caregiving Research in the Philippines,” and “Long-Term Care in China and Worldwide.”

The Sigma Theta Tau International Beta Epsilon Chapter recently presented the Ruby Wilson Excellence in Clinical Nursing Award and the Thelma Ingles Excellence in Clinical and Scholarly Activities Award to two Duke School of Nursing (DUSON) December 2023 graduates for their demonstrated academic excellence, service to the nursing profession, and commitment to providing social justice and reform in healthcare.
