Allison Stafford, assistant professor, and Rosa Gonzalez-Guarda, associate professor, contributed to "Adverse Childhood Experiences and Depressive Symptoms among Young Adult Hispanic Immigrants: Moderating and Mediating Effects of Distinct Facets of Acculturation Stress" in "Issues in Mental Health Nursing." Gabriela Nagy, of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, also contributed. 

Youran Lee, PhD student, has been accepted into the Kenan Institute of Ethics's Race and the Professions Fellowship. 

Tolu Oyesanya, associate professor, and Gabrielle Harris, PhD'20, along with Callan Loflin, former DUSON clinical research coordinator, and Janet Prvu Bettger, former DUSON associate professor who's now with the School of Medicine, wrote "Negotiating the transition from acute hospital care to home: perspectives of patients with traumatic brain injury, caregivers and healthcare providers" in the "Journal of Integrated Care." 

MSN students Jennifer Rowswell and Kegt Vildor, who is also earning his DNP, earned HRSA Nursing Health Corps Scholarships.

Dean Vincent Guilamo-Ramos coauthored the recent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's "Sexually Transmitted Infections: Adopting a Sexual Health Paradigm" report.

More than 62 million Latinos live in the U.S. today. By 2060, that number is projected to approximately double. While the U.S. health care system has made strides in caring for this area of the population, much work is left to be done. 

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will present "Bridging the Gap of Hispanic Heritage to Improve Healthcare Outcomes" on October 14 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
