Vice Dean, Finance and Administration

Michael V. Relf, Interim Dean, Duke University School of Nursing

THE ROLE: The Vice Dean serves as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer within the school, providing oversight to the financial, budgeting, human resources, facility management, information technology, and space planning functions.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate is a forward thinking, collaborative, and highly ethical financial leader with a minimum of eight years of significant fiscal management responsibility with direct oversight of areas of fiscal analysis, forecasting, borrowing, accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting functions. Successful candidates will have a strong individual commitment to the School of Nursing’s mission of health equity and social justice, as well as extensive leadership experience in healthcare or higher education finance and/or accounting and an earned bachelor’s degree (an MBA preferred).

Director of Communications, 252294

Supervisor: Sara Aghajanian, Associate Dean, Marketing and Communications 

THE ROLE: The Director of Communications at Duke University School of Nursing will help drive strategic communications efforts, collaborating with the Associate Dean of Marking and Communications to implement comprehensive plans that align with the school’s mission. This role involves overseeing high-quality communications across various platforms, mentoring the editorial team, and managing media relations. Additionally, the director will coordinate with the alumni and development team, ensuring alignment with the school’s goals and fostering strong relationships within the university and beyond.

QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires a background in communications strategic planning, analytical and organizational skills generally required through completion of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field.

Clinical Research Coordinator, 251982

Supervisor: Center for Nursing Research

THE ROLE: This full-time position includes 100% effort to work on research studies focused on addressing the needs of English- and Spanish-speaking patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and family caregivers during the transition home from acute hospital care.

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working on randomized controlled trials is preferred. Experience working with health-related care of patients or clinical research studies is preferred.

Building Support Services Coordinator, 252485

Supervisor: Tina Leiter, Director, Facility Operations

THE ROLE: Coordinate, manage, plan, and monitor a variety of facility operations activities associated with School of Nursing buildings and/or facilities and other SON resources to include general maintenance and upkeep, day-to-day facility operations such as building security, signage, back dock management, housekeeping operations, storage/off-site records management, supply restocking/ordering, checking all lease devices for paper and toner refills as well as ordering refill toners and event management.

QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires organization, communication and comprehension skills generally acquired through two years post secondary education. Work requires the ability to plan, implement and coordinate activities involved in building management and related ancillary operations generally acquired through three years related experience.

Information Services Specialist, 252484

Supervisor: Manager of Computer Operations

THE ROLE: The Information Services Specialist manages and supports the technology needs of the School of Nursing. They are responsible for responding to, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues and service requests from students, faculty, and staff, with advanced expertise and problem-solving skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires analytical skills normally acquired through two years post-secondary education in mathematics, computer science or a related field, or equivalent technical training in a computer-related field.

Financial Manager II, 252626

Supervisor: Finance Director

THE ROLE: The Financial Analyst provides administrative management and coordination of a variety of business related functions, including budget and financial function, data collection, data analysis, data dissemination and reporting, statistical reports, budget development and preparation, financial interpretation, and monthly analysis, in addition to other ad hoc analysis and reporting for the School of Nursing. .

QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
