Facilities

Duke University School of Nursing is primarily located in the Christine Siegler Pearson Building at 307 Trent Drive. The 107,000-square-foot facility features simulation laboratories, classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, and beautiful hospitality and auditorium spaces equipped with video conferencing and lecture recording technologies.

In August 2019, the Interprofessional Education Building opened at 311 Trent Drive. This 105,000-square-foot facility is shared with a synergistic partner, the Physical Therapy Program, and connects with the Pearson Building. Our students collaborate with PT students already, and the PT Program is one of four groups (including DUSON) that participated in developing the Duke Health Interprofessional Education strategy led by Dean Broome.

This building is a five-story facility, shared 50/50 with Physical Therapy Program. Our part of the building includes space for research, PhD program, post-doctoral, student services, global health, standardized patient rooms, Health Innovation Lab, a 96-seat classroom, multiple break-out rooms, and additional offices.

Sustainability

The Christine Siegler Pearson Building is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver facility. Designated by the United States Green Building Council, it is the fourth building at Duke to earn this certification. The building's green elements fall under the following LEED categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation and Design.

Resources

DUSON's Facilities provide a wide range of services, from renting our space to other Duke entities to assisting School of Nursing faculty, staff, and students with maintenance issues, building access, copier issues, ergonomic assessments, an EMS scheduling system, and more. A Duke netid is required for our department's complete list of services for DUSON faculty, staff, and students.

Dean Marion Broome discusses the IPEC Building and the future of interprofessional education.
