Health Assessment is a free, confidential health screening provided through Duke benefits. It includes total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, waist circumference height, weight and body mass index measurements. Additionally, there is a goal setting and referral session with a nurse, dietitian, or fitness specialist. Many participants find the coaching session helps them get started making lifestyle changes and connects them to LIVE FOR LIFE and community resources to support them. Health Assessments are available to all active Duke employees.

Drawing on fieldwork conducted in a gangxu development at the urban periphery of east Nanjing from 2013 to 2015, this talk argues that the concept of "inflexible demand" works as an empty signifier bridging divergent value-making projects that are constitutive of China's housing market. It argues that gangxu is a hegemonic concept through which people contest inclusion and exclusion in relation to the city in contemporary China. The talk is developed from a new book titled "Anxious Homes: Inflexible Demand and China's Housing Market."

This talk interrogates how slavery animates the psychic counters of abortion concerns. From the use of the Civil War as a metaphor for battles over personhood by abortion legal scholars such as Mary Ziegler to the constitutional originalism espoused by Justice Samuel Alito's reading of the fourteenth amendment in Dobbs, slavery occupies a foundational psychic landscape with the rhetorical strategies of abortion battles.
