Dean Marion E. Broome received Indiana University’s (IU) prestigious Bicentennial Medal. The medal honors distinguished and distinctive service in support of IU’s mission as a public university. Broome served as dean and professor at IU’s School of Nursing from 2004 to 2014.
Four scholars have been selected for the 2021-2023 cohort of Duke’s National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP): Kamal Golla, Melissa Harris, Jennifer May and Karen Scherr. The cohort represents the third group of interdisciplinary medical researchers recruited to the Duke NCSP site.

I'm originally from Long Beach, California, and studied bio-psychology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. While I had volunteered at hospitals during my undergraduate career, it wasn't until I became a patient with partial paralysis that nurses really became heroes in my eyes. It was then that I decided I wanted to be that advocate and caretaker for families in both their happiest and hardest life moments.
