DUSON Represented at Duke CFAR's Annual Retreat

On September 28, the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) of Duke University held their 16th Annual Fall Scientific Retreat. Several DUSON faculty and students presented at this annual event.

Brandon Knettel, assistant professor, was invited to deliver an oral presentation from selected conference abstract submissions which he titled "The Roles and Effectiveness of Community Health Workers in Supporting HIV Care Engagement and Well-Being among Adults Living with HIV in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania."

Smith Submits Proposal for Study on Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors

sophia smithKudos to Sophia Smith, associate professor, and Eric Elbogen (SOM) for the submission of their National Cancer Institute (NCI), Multi-PI application entitled “Integrating Technological Approaches for Pain Management in Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer." This proposal requests funding for a five-year period with a start date of July 1, 2021.

Randolph, Johnson Publish Article on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis

Assistant Professors Schenita Randolph and Ragan Johnson co-wrote "Leveraging social networks of Black women in beauty salons to improve uptake of pre-exposure prophylaxis" in Health Education Journal. Coauthors include Danielle Meyers of Duke Cancer Institute, Davon Washington of Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute, and Lamercie Saint-Hillaire, of Duke Family Medicine and Community Health.
