The documentary was produced by Dr. Javier Wallace, a postdoctoral associate at Duke University and award-winning filmmaker Funmi Ogunro. It captures the life of Dr. Claudius "C.B." Claiborne, the first African-American basketball player at Duke.

Mobile Health Assessment

Health Assessment is a free, confidential health screening provided through Duke benefits. It includes total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, waist circumference height, weight and body mass index measurements. Additionally, there is a goal setting and referral session with a nurse, dietitian, or fitness specialist. Many participants find the coaching session helps them get started making lifestyle changes and connects them to LIVE FOR LIFE and community resources to support them. Health Assessments are available to all active Duke employees.

Why have mortality rates become increasingly unequal across U.S. counties?

Mortality rates among working-age adults differ markedly between counties. These differences have been growing unabated for several decades as some counties experienced impressive declines in mortality rise, others experienced worrisome increases, and some experienced little change. Why have county mortality rates become so different? Can anything be done to stem or reverse the growing differences? This presentation will share new insights into these questions.
